It's great when it works good but it doesn't work good too much
I've had this fountain for about 3-1/2 months. I really wanted to love it. When it's working good, it's wonderful but it only works good about 25% of the time. I have an 75 lb boxer - your results may vary depending on size/type of your pet. My thoughts:On arrival: As others have reported, the unit arrived with a broken filter and there were charcoal rocks and dust everywhere. I thought about returning it since the replacement filters were not available yet but I was excited about it so I cleaned up the mess and put the filter back together the best I could. The food bowl: This is a nice size food bowl for my dog. Unfortunately the close proximity of the food bowl to the water meant that lots of food ended up in the fountain and ultimately clogging the main hole the water drains into (my dog is sloppy). Fortunately there are a couple of overflow drain holes which prevented a 3 liter flood in my kitchen. After a couple of weeks I stopped using the food bowl and just went back to using his old bowl because the fountain ending up with too much food inside the well causing me to clean it way too often and the previously mentioned drain clogging. The light, power cord, and pump: The light is a really nice feature and assures that the bowl won't be kicked if it's in a dark and well-traveled area. It's actually easier to see the water level in the dark that it is in a well-lit room. The power block doesn't get to hot. It's impossible to see the notch that the cord is supposed to slide into when you place the top of the fountain on. This caused me to pinch the wire on one of my first assembly attempts resulting in a chunk of the rubber coating around the wire to come off. I'm not sure if it came off all the way down to the wire but I wrapped a bunch of electrical tape around that area anyway. The pump will get loud and reduce output if it is not properly maintained. I disassemble it and clean it well at least once per week - a small baby bottle brush helps this process. The fountain: My dog hates a dirty water bowl and starts kicking the bowl around sloshing water everywhere when he is dissatisfied with the cleanliness of it. The fountain has solved that problem - he always has clean water! The well is large enough that I usually only need to add water once a day. And I really like that the drinking part of the bowl is not super deep. My dog has a tendency to shove his entire face in his regular bowl resulting in a lot of water dripping off of his jowls as he walks away. His drinking is daintier now with less mess without decreasing his total water intake. But overall, I find this fountain to be overly finicky. The pump will start gurgling loudly long before the water reaches the minimum water level. In the past couple of days the output of my pump has decreased enormously even after giving it a thorough cleaning. This resulted in just a trickle of water getting pumped into the bowl which drained before my dog could get a good drink. There is a switch on the pump that increases the flow rate but it also is much louder now. I thought maybe the filter was clogged and preventing enough water from getting to the pump but a new filter yielded the same results. I figure the pump is on its last legs so I broke down and ordered a new one today. Which brings me to this - I have spent more money on the maintenance and repair of this fountain in the 3+ months that I have owned it (2 boxes of filters and a new pump) than the price for an entirely new fountain which doesn't seem right. I love the idea of this fountain but it is not holding up well for my dog.

Not quite what I was hoping for.
I really wanted to like this fountain because it seemed to be great for my cats. I was replacing a fountain that I had had for many years that had stopped working. With this particular fountain, for some reason, the pump didn't seem to work properly - I was having trouble getting it to circulate the water properly - but it also was making a little too much noise for me into the bargain. I'm very sensitive to noise and I need a very quiet fountain since I keep it in a tiny kitchen in a very small home and can't escape from the noise unless I turn the pump off. For some reason this pump seemed to vibrate inside the fountain and that created a buzzing noise that I couldn't seem to get rid of. Bear in mind, though, that this could be just me and many people might not notice or care about the faint buzz. Overall I liked the idea and general construction of the fountain, though. I quite liked, in my nerdy kind of way, the night light in the bottom of the fountain. It's nice to have a night light in a kitchen and this one was just bright enough to be useful if coming into a small kitchen in the dead of night for a glass of water and to avoid stumbling over something like a cat water fountain.I was also not too impressed with the filter arrangement. The filter that came with my fountain was broken, apparently in shipping, and I had charcoal all over the place but even if it had been whole, I didn't like the fact that the charcoal containment seemed very fragile. I didn't know how well it would hold up while being used and wouldn't want charcoal flakes to be entering the water as my cats were drinking it.The big deal breaker for me, unfortunately, was the fact that the plug cord was much too short. I have to run the plug from the fountain on the floor up over a kitchen cabinet to a socket set up on the wall and this plug just barely reached - and it was stretched tight. In previous fountains that I've used the plug cord was much longer and I had no difficulty running it up to the socket. I will say that the manufacturer of this item is very responsive and clearly cares about the product. After I returned mine, they contacted me to ask if there was anything they could do to help and to discuss my return. In the end, though, I elected to buy a different fountain.

Terrible noise from a shabby pump
Terrible noise from a shabby pump. I am good with fine electronics and do a lot of minor adjustments and repairs but this is hopeless, so apart from trying hard to find the + and - on the pump, I could do nothing to avoid the rattling noise (which is changing occasionally to a turbine sound) and vibration. For the amount charged, this product should work like a dream, but it is a nightmare and my 4 cats that fear nothing (!) circled it, and run away.Could be the one lemon in a line of good products, a shame that it happened that way, it has a nice design and a very good idea behind it just very poorly executed

Noise Unbearable, Closeted.
I've stopped using it. For the month it was great, nice and quiet, but now ending the second month it makes a horrible mechanical bubbling noise, like the pump can't keep up, that can't be stopped. The noise started when the water level was about half, so once it was full it was fine, but now no matter what the water level is, the noise will not stop. We don't use the food bowl for fear that the small cat kibble would get in the pump, and I have cleaned that water out multiple times. Spent too much money on something that is unusable within 2 months.

Great!
This fountain works great it is easy to clean/use, its very quite, keeps the water clean and cool, my cat warmed up to it very quickly and is now drinking more water then ever before. The night light is a really nice feature on it. A well made fountain for a reasonable price :)
