We love our fur kids and they have always had full run of the house, but the kitchen posed problems. I never wanted to put up a gate that we had to swing our legs over, and one like that would not have contained my large dogs anyway. Besides, who wants an ugly plastic or wooden gate in between 2 beautiful rooms???Enter the  Dreambaby Extra Tall Swing Closed Hallway Security Gate, Black . My dogs love to sleep on the floor in whatever room I am in at the time. The kitchen posed great problems because they would lay down behind me while at the counter and I would turn around and trip over them. There was also great danger of scalding to all of us, when I would take a boiling hot pot off of the cooktop and run over a dog. We had several very close calls.This gate has changed everything. Placed between our family room and the kitchen, the dogs can see me either through the gate or over the countertop at the bar, and they are happy. We are all safe from falls and burns. An unexpected plus for me is that I can have some *me* time in the kitchen without my constant companions. Who knew?The gate is good looking and very sturdy. We will never need another. Expect it to last.From the time I opened the box, until I had it installed, was 10 minutes. The only assembly was inserting the screw-type bumpers that affix the gate with pressure against the walls. My opening is 39-1/2 inches, and there are baseboards at the bottom. It would have fit had the opening been slightly larger or smaller. The doorway dimensions given in the description are spot-on. The baseboards did not prevent a secure fit at the bottom.I have uploaded a couple of photos of my crew behind the gate. Take a look and see how it might look in your home. I am beyond happy with this purchase. Wish I had done it years ago!

Impressed with how rugged this gate seems. These gates aren't always the easiest to take down and reinstall, only because of having to get each of 4 screw adjustments just right, but it's worth it. Opens nicely for walking through, no need for trying to step over something.

We bought this gate and two additional extensions to contain our Rhodesian Ridgeback puppy after she quickly discovered how to escape through the other gate we had installed for her. We have it installed in the 65" opening between our living room and the formal rooms. Since our puppy will grow quite tall and her breed is known for its escape artistry, we needed a tall, sturdy gate that would hold up to whatever trickery she contrives to throw at it. We also wanted to avoid having to permanently screw the gate into the walls, despite the wide opening. This is one of the tallest child/pet safety gates we found on the market. It's great for keeping a climbing dog contained, and is also easy on the back since you don't have to bend over to open it. The gate opening is substantially wider than similar gates, so we don't have to squeeze through it sideways. The gate swings open in both directions, and automatically closes and latches behind you, both of which are great features. It was super easy to install and using only the tension rods (we did not screw it into the walls, which is optional) it is completely immobile. We're impressed with the sturdiness of this gate, as well as its attractive design. It looks great in our home! This gate costs a bit more than others we looked at, but if you need an especially tall, sturdy gate and one that is not a complete eyesore, it is absolutely worth the money!

It’s true what people say about that strange gap where the door connects to the static side. But it’s fine. Doesn’t alter the functionality of it and it’s really sturdy. We love it.We use it to keep cats on one side of the house. It’s in a hallway. We had to stuff a pillow between the wall and the gate only in one side because our smaller cat squeezed through one night. Otherwise they don’t try to him over. It’s nice and tall.The extenders don’t extend as much as I thought but it worked for us.I’d buy another one if I needed to.

This really is a great gate, I know there are a million reviews on here already saying how good it is... but just to be one more drop in a pond of similar reviews... I too can confirm its a great gate.About the gate, its very well made and looks very nice, upscale if you will. Not like the typical plastic gates you see elsewhere (and all we had in the 90's it seems)It self closes and securely locks each time.This is very good at keeping babies in. Our youngest is one and even though he knows enough to stack stuff up to get up to the gate lock and try to open it (and he can move the latch back to try and unlock it) but because the gate requires a slight pick up on the door to open it, its just enough to extirpate his escape attempts.We have one upstairs and one downstairs and they work great, very happy with these purchases and get complements all the time on them.

put up my gate and it is very flimsy and the bars are so flimsy that my toddler can bend them. i contacted the seller and they are not willing to help whatsoever with the issue. so basically I just lost the $100 I paid for this gate. i got this gate because I seen great reviews and a friend has one and they love it; so maybe I just got a defective one but they wont do anything to make it right

I just installed this gate in my hallway to keep the dogs out of the way when there is company. At first I thought it was damaged, but there is a paper included that is very specific and tells you it is not damaged. Indeed what you have to do is pull together with pressure to ensure it works as instructed. I did however purchase the safety bumper suggested from Amazon. I highly recommend this as it protects your wall and add an extra suction/security. The only thing for me that was a bit confusing was how to actually open the gate door. So that you know, you have to pull up and swing in or out which that option is great.Overall it is a great, sturdy, very well made security gate that works great. I highly recommend this product.
