Not exactly what I expected. I was excited about using it on my neck and chin and found out in the manual that for below the neck only. The website falsely advertise that it can be used anywhere. Secondly, I am light skin with dark hair and the product only works when I use it on my legs, stomach, and lower back. For some reason, it won't work on my bikini, arms, chest, or armpits. So I think the advertisement of this product working on dark skin must be false, as well after my experience. I probably should've returned it, but didn't try it until weeks after I got it in the mail.PS> I did get a small refund for the 1st false advertisement, but overall I feel like this was an awful purchase.

I've been using this on my underarms, face and bikini areas for long enough that I've lost track of how long I've been using it, but I know I no longer have to use it on a weekly basis. It does a great job on finer hair like armpits and legs... I decided I didn't want to spend the time on my legs just yet, so I quit after only two treatments and have hairless patches that have persisted ever since! But there are stubborn hairs right in the middle of my underarm and bikini area that haven't quite gone away completely. That said, the hair is definitely finer and so slow to grow that I don't even shave before using the IPL. Being as my skin is sensitive and shaving always made for some righteous rash action, the results I've gotten are fine by me!I found this device easy to use after the initial adjustment period and discomfort is almost nonexistent for me. Every now and then I hit a spot that twinges for a second, but for the most part, all I feel are little flashes of heat. From what I've read, though, I'm the poster child for IPLs - pale with dark hair. So I imagine that has something to do with it. I've never used any other IPL systems, so I'm not going to be much help in comparing different brands' ease of use or comfort. I was told this one was the way to go last spring, though, and I'm happy enough with my results that I see no reason to try any other product!

I bought the unit, and I really had a lot of doubt that it would work on me, I have Indian tan skin hairy legs arms, I decided to start with my legs, I shaved weekly and treated my full legs religiously, pain was bearable, and I would close my eyes coz I did not like the intensity of the laser. After the 4th or 5th treatment (5 weeks later) I noticed that I really don't need to shave any more!!! OMG!!! It really works!!! I will start soon my arms. I would recommend this unit to all ladies who are hairy and want a permanent hair removing solution.

we have purchased this item through EBAY. we paid for it with PAYPAL. the reason i bought it was because of the reviews i had read elsewhere on the internet. ( it comes highly rated ) for some reason its no available in the usa normally. so with that being said i bought it from a seller overseas. the transaction went just fine by the way. ( no issues and was shipped/received quickly about 1 week. ) now on to the product itself. you are supposed to see complete results over 12 sessions of use. we started to see results right away. ( after only the fourth week she was almost satisfied. ) we did her whole body ( hands, arms, pits, stomach, chest, legs, feet, and toes. ) which was a lot of work but we were determined. by the eighth week the results were near perfect. we are still using it and its worked wonderfully. ( in comparison to other methods and for maintenance which will probably be yearly. ) it is more powerful then any unit that was available here in the US which was one of the reasons we decided to buy it. we did not use the gel or anything like that ( which you can purchase by itself. ) but is available. i would recommend this to anyone who is interested in thinning their hair ( use it for less treatments ) up to anyone who is interested in permanent hair removal. i found this much more reasonably priced then going to a salon and having someone do it for you. ( which is expensive takes a lot of time and in my honest opinion not permanent. ) from our experience this is a better deal, will save you time, and aggravation. it does take patience and as we found out.... it will work better if you have someone to help you. this is the newer unit that is offered by smoothskin and should last you a lifetime. it comes with the manual, a silk carry bag (which ripped and was tossed.) , and the power adapter and cord. some have wondered if they could use it in their countries.. that is because it has the plug for euro etc.. well it came with the proper adapter for the usa power system and we had no problem using it. ( you might want to still check that the proper plug is included for your country before you purchase this item. i rate this unit with 5 ***** stars. of course there could always be improvements like it could be cordless but i would not hold my breath as this probably uses a lot of power. also the bag failed but that is not a deal breaker for me so. also you should check out the manufacturers website to check for your skin tone and how well it will/should work for you. hint: the darker the better. this unit comes with a warranty. it can be used on the FACE and BODY. it is also the most powerful home unit available. ( which is why i purchased it from overseas was not available/allowed in the usa. ( thats more then likely because of the face there are so many salons that do this and make $ doing so. ) if you have any concerns or questions i do answer them from time to time.. but i cannot promise it would be right away but i will do that asap.

I suffer with pcos which has been devastating for me. I’ve never been able to find anything that can get rid of embarrassing body/facial hair for longer than a day. So far I’ve used this product once (it says not to expect results until after a few weeks of using it) but I never thought I’d say after one treatment I’ve already noticed a slight reduction in hair and feel smoother already. I'm skin type 4 (mixed race) and spent a lot of time researching this before buying, even the skin type colours in the booklet are darker than me but it won't work at all on my skin, literally won't even start. Absolutely gutted!

I am new to IPL although I did try a unit several years ago but didn't stick to the treatment plan and let it go. This unit though is a very different experience ego the previous very bulky one I had.Comes in a nice attractive box which holds the unit, the power pack and a bag.The technology this particular device uses was developed within the UK which is a plus point for me.Using the device is very easy, you don't have to adjust it for skin tone as the unit does all that for you automatically.Like other IPL units this is designed to be used on shaved skin, this is because the IPL works on the hair follicle when it is in its growth phase.You simply apply the unit to the skin, the unit detects skin tone and adjusts for this, press the button and the unit will flash. You will fill a mild heat sensation and if you are not used to IPL this can feel like a burning sensation. Wish I had purchased one sooner. I have been using for two months and seen a dramatic reduction in hair grown on all area's used. It isn't completely pain free the more desne the hair the more it hurts. But as time passes and the hair becomes less and less the less painful it is. A great investment for those that wish a reduction in hair growth

I read the manual and the skin tones, my skin tone is like Halle berry's which was accepted on the chart. However once I put it against my skin it didn't work properly. Very misleading to me.
