Yum Yum Mix 5 lb

We had a very old rotten black walnut stump removed and nothing would grow in the area. Everybody said it's because the stump, being black walnut, leaked toxins in the soil. Each claim about juglone toxicity is more dramatic than the last -- it will last in the soil for 5+ years, it could affect anything within 60 feet, an old stump is even more poisonous than a live tree, you have to double-bag the wood chippings from the stump removal, etc. It all seemed plausible because everything we planted there would die. Even if those things were on a list created by some university or garden club indicating they were tolerant of juglone. Those plants would still either die immediately or be so continually sickly we'd eventually pull them.Then we found a 2019 WSU article by Linda Chalker-Scott that suggested juglone is likely just a boogeyman story made up to explain the very poor soil left behind by greedy black walnut trees that take up all the sun and nutrients (I'm paraphrasing). We don't live in the SW United States but figured we'd try Yum Yum to see if it made a difference for three new small shrubs in the death-stump zone. We put about 1/2 cup in each hole while planting and also scattered a bag of top soil on top. We had already tried top soil in the past to no avail, but now with the Yum Yum all three shrubs are alive and thriving, with blooms coming. They were actually bought from different nurseries but are from the same grower ---who, by the way cautions against planting things around black walnuts. We could not believe the results. Definitely try this before you give up on your soil. Maybe don't plant the world's rarest tree at first but do give it a cautious try.

Adding some Yum Yum gives new plantings a great start. They grow bigger faster and often bring blooms earlier than expected. It’s effectiveness is surprising. Highly recommend.

Great fertilizer, use it on outside and inside plants. I grew spectacular veggies this summer with an assist from Yum Yum.
