Stopped working suddenly after 2 years 3 months
The nvme has stopped working suddenly today. It had important data in it. The warranty window closed in April 2023. Currently which is irrecoverable. This was cheap when I purchased. I should've bought a better one.

Works in ROG STRIX Enclosure
I first received the hard drive today to use in an enclosure. I know PNY says they don't support use with an enclosure, but I decided to go ahead and give it a try anyway and worst case scenario I have another M.2 slot on my motherboard. Right now, it is THE fastest drive in the house using the USB-C connection, with only one exception. It doesn't accept connection to my 4 year old motorola android phone but I didn't expect it too (it just would have been a huge bonus to have NVME be usable with phone - but definitely not worth docking a point for in my use case). YMMV.Overall, it was very fast at a WINDOWS (I consider this important) write speed of 550MB/S. Now you may say that's USB 3.0 speed and that would be correct thought that's a theoretical maximum at USB 3.0. I am running this through a USB-C port in an external enclosure though (NOT in a motherboard M.2 slot).Basically I'm getting SATA speed through a USB-C port. Though not quite as advertised it is still a PHENOMENAL leap in performance. Earlier I was transferring RAW files from an old USB 3.0 hard drive. Transferring in real world cases with BIG files the hard drive CHUNKED along at 30 MB/S which is well below SATA speed spec. The fact that I'm getting (you sittting down, you ready?) 550 MB/S instead through USB-C is STILL a difference of almost 20x faster speed. The same chunk of files through a SATA External took 30 minutes. The same going through this enclosure took 75 seconds flat.BUY THIS DRIVE! I recommend pairing with the ASUS STRIX. I will re-update as time goes on but this is phenomenal for use with a laptop now. I am floored with such a lightweight external storage option.People just need to keep in mind that specs of an m.2 port will get that advertised 3500MBPs most likely! However running through cables and USBC will be a slight bottleneck. That bottleneck advertised speed is about SATA or 550MBPs. My test case was 50GB of RAW photo files from my camera.

BUYER BEWARE
When it works, this drive works well. It's quick (maxes out at ~2.9 GB/s on my system) and is easy to use. I bought the drive in October of 2019 but the drive started having issues in August of 2020 and fully died in September of 2020, which means it only lasted 11 months and that's where the issues come in.First, PNY doesn’t provide any diagnostics tools. When I first started having issues the S.M.A.R.T. reports all said everything was fine, but Dell's utility was showing issues. However there was no way to do further tests to confirm Dell's utility info. Talking to support was fine, and they gave me an RMA number so I could send the drive back but with two major issues:1) They would not send a replacement ahead of time. I did an RMA for Western Digital years ago and they took my payment info and sent a new drive with the understanding that if I didn't send back the defective one, they would charge me for the replacement. No such option exists for PNY so I had two choices; Go without a computer for the two weeks needed for the RMA or, buy a replacement myself and… try to re-sell it later?2) Return shipping is paid by the customer, and not by PNY. This isn't a huge cost, but again, it's a strike against them, especially since the issue is that the drive failed, so it’s not my fault. So, I ordered a cheap temporary drive and it thankfully arrived the day after this drive fully gave up the ghost (again, the day just before that, the S.M.A.R.T. reports all said everything was fine, but Dell's utility said there were issues). I shipped the drive back Monday, it arrived Friday and they shipped the replacement Tuesday and it arrived Saturday. So a total of 13 days for the turnaround from the time I shipped the drive until the replacement came. The replacement is brand new and appears to be an updated version (thinner flash modules and they are only on one side rather than both sides). It's working well and I'm hoping for multiple years of service from it, but I'm not holding my breath. If they paid for return shipping and gave me an option of getting the replacement before shipping back the defective drive, this review would be glowing. But because of those issues, I can’t recommend buying any hard drive from PNY because if you need to use the 5 year warranty, it’s a pain.
