For those of us who like to escape the real world and dive into the realm of fantasy, THE LOST WORLD will certainly satisfy that desire. Based on the 1912 novel by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, this outstanding new 12-disc DVD release of the complete 66-episode TV series (including the original 2-part Pilot), offers entry into an alternative universe, packed with action, adventure, and interesting characters – and their developing relationships.First airing in 1999, the series details the adventures of a band of scientists and explorers, who set course from England in a hot air balloon to a remote area of the jungle in search of a fabled "lost world."Following a crash landing, the group discovers a mysterious plateau and a beautiful jungle woman named Veronica Layton, who has been living in the wilderness since her parents disappeared 11 years earlier, having vanished under mysterious circumstances. The characters realize they are trapped in the lost world and battle against many hostile elements including a mysterious force which created this world. Together, they fight to survive against carnivorous dinosaurs, vicious Neanderthals, a race of lizard men, and other dangers as they search for a way to escape.Starring Peter McCauley, Rachel Blakely, Jennifer O’Dell, William Snow, David Orth, Michael Sinelnikoff and Lara Cox, the characters are complex, well-rounded, and interesting with a great mixture of humor, adventure, and mystery – they sometimes struggle with each other and their relationships as much as with their environment. The Lost World ran for three seasons, the final two of which aired in syndication in the United States, before it was cancelled in 2002 after funding for a fourth season was abandoned. The final episode ended with an unresolved cliffhanger, leaving us all to wonder... how very fitting!Bonus Features:1. Episode Synopses2. Original 2-Part Pilot

Thrilled to have this on DVD
I have been looking for this on DVD for a long time and I finally found it! First the negative: This is a bare bones release, no subtitles or any special features. The image quality is basic, maybe slightly improved over VHS. The audio quality is decent, but nothing special. Now the positive: The film company, FILM CHEST MEDIA, released this 12 DVD set without STACKING the DVD's one on top of each other! Each individual DVD is placed in it's own case, so no scratching. Thank God someone at the company cared enough! The overall box set is well put together and looks great to me.This was an enjoyable series back in the 90's and I'm so happy to have this in my collection. I never saw the last season so I can't wait to see what happens. Thank you FILM CHEST MEDIA for this release. If anyone from the company is reading this please think about releasing on DVD "Land of the Lost" (1991-1992). Fingers crossed.

If you're a gamer watch this cause so much fun and adventure in just 3 seasons
This series is so much fun. Campy, cheesy, scantily clad jungle woman, Amazon's dinosaurs. So much pulpy goodness crammed into a fun filled show. Every episode is like a fantastic fun filled adventure game of pulp dungeons and dragons. If you're a gamer or DM. Watch this series, buy this series for inspirational goodness

Dinosaurs and babes!
very entertaining, even if a little campy. Luxury treehouse in the Amazon??? No one's laundry ever gets dirty??? Etc Etc. Still, a very light but entertaining series based in the novel and the original movie.

Welcome release but not as good as the original release from IMAGE
This is a welcome release from Film Crest Media but quality is not as good as the original IMAGE DVD release years ago. For one the original IMAGE release has noticeably better video. What disappointed me most was the audio seemed to be badly mixed and seemed to be in MONO. The original IMAGE release had the option of Dolby Digital 5.1 (or genuine Stereo) so this was badly missed. On a lighter note for which most consumers won't care or even miss unless you are a purist but the original ending logos and music at the very end are missing (i.e. Coote/Hayes, Telescene, etc)If I didn't own the original releases would I still buy this one? Sure, I would. I love the series and did buy it for the original Pilot that was missing from the Image release but still can't give it 5 stars. The price certainly was right.
