I read the book to 3rd graders students, they wrote an Opinion composition about it. It was an amazing activity in which they gave many reasons why not to kill the poor ant.

Great story to teach empathy. Love that it had an open ended question where kids can decide what they would do in that case…great for discussion.

this is great book, the rhymes are fun, the spanish is very good. plus, has a good message and great illustrations. got it when my son was 2.5, six months later he still enjoys hearing it (and i enjoy reading it to him).

I used this book to teach about opinion writing. They had to decide whether the boy should squish the ant or not (most of the boys said that he should). My class really liked it!

Excelente libro, es una conversación entre una hormiga y un niño que la quiere pisar. Me pareció perfecto para enseñar acerca de la empatía, de las diferencias entre seres vivos y del respeto hacia los demás. Desconozco la versión original, pero en español está rimado y tiene unas ilustraciones muy bonitas.

Oye, hormiguita is a charming re-telling of a classic story involving young boys and small ants. I remember reading an almost identically similar story as a young girl 50 years ago. The art of Oye, hormiguita is excellent something the older version did not have.
