I place this on top of a cup of soup in the microwave and the contents come out hot without splattering and the disk is sucked in in the middle having formed the seal advertised. I have not used it to store food in the cold fridge so I don't know if the seal works in a cold environment. It's great for the microwave and it washes very easily. Having had butter splatter all over the microwave while heating it for popcorn, I was eager to have a good cover for that cup of butter. I bought the small sized disk that just covers a cup. I have washed off red stains from soup and spaghetti sauce easily. But even if it stained I would not mind as long as it sealed. I use this often and really like it and marvel at material science. My only concern is hoping the microwave heat does not cause the silicone to melt into my food, unseen. But there is no flavor change to indicate this?

These are a good design and very versatile, however they are not flat when they arrive - so do not lie flat on bowls. I believe that they will eventually flatten, but will need to be “fussed with” to get them there.

The size varies 5 3/4 - 5 7/8 not 6 inches. Otherwise I believe it would have worked

Pattern leaves it uneven, does not make airtight seal with bowls.

I love these lids and have them in various sizes. Great to put on a bowl or cup of things I am prepping for cooking or saving for a night or two. They are very easy to clean and work as they should.
