This makes cleaning gravel so easy and also takes water out of the tank at the same time. Saves so much time and effort. Highly recommend.I see some reviews from people struggling to use this. Bought this to clean out our new fish tank with gravel floor. Can be difficult to get the vacuum working but once it does it is very powerful. This can be a blessing and a curse. It drags the dirt from between the gravel really effectively and quickly but this means it drains the tank of water very quickly. You will also need a good sized bucket if your tank is not near the sink.The only other issue is that when trying to get the cleaner to work it can stir up a lot of the dirt into the water so the water quickly becomes dirty with the dirt that had previously settled, obviously this is solved when fresh water is added in.The oval shape makes getting into corners and around decorations easier than a round tube would.

Why oh why doesn't it just have an inline hand primer pump like literally every other gravel cleaner does? The dumb handshake design simply doesn't work AT ALL. My old cleaner with inline pump worked simply and easily instantly every time, But THIS pos, not a chance. Just scaring my fish and stirring up the crap im trying to clean out. No need at all for this. Found a slightly easier way to do it, lay it down on its side underwater and get the water to flush the pipe before timing it right to go back into the water. But that isn't the intended design, just use a damn pump for god sake!

I don’t want to leave a bad review because I think in the right situation this vacuum would be great. However, if you’re going to buy this I would suggest you need a large tank, lots of space and patience to get it going or expect spillage. I eventually got it working by sucking the pipe because it wouldn’t start by shaking it for love nor money. I’ll give it another go next time and hopefully it’ll work but I’m not confident.

This is quite simply THE BEST siphon that I have ever had. I have been keeping fish for almost all of my life, and I have been through many of these over the years, I have never had a water change so easy until I got this. WHY DIDN'T I GET THIS YEARS AGO?You simply pump it up and down in the water to get it started, and you have so much room to clean the gravel that I did my first ever water change where I didn't lose loads of it down the drain. I went for the 60cm and I don't regret it. Bigger is better, there is more room to suck up more gravel at once. This did an excellent job of cleaning my gravel, by the time my tank was 1/3rd empty the gravel was coming off clean. so I simply rested it on some wood and left it to drain down to 50% and kept an eye on it from the comfort of the sofa. The included bucket clip ensures that it stays in the tank, and the flexible top section of hose ensures that you don't end up with any kinks. Perfect.For the ultimate in lazy water changes, I recommend getting this together with a hozelock tap adaptor, a hozelock quick release connector, a length of hose (I recommend the yellow Hozelock one - it doesn't twist or kink - well worth the extra) and a hozelock hose repair connector. You can use the repair connector to hook this up to the hose, and run it either out of the window or into a bathroom and that eliminates the need for carrying heavy buckets. Then, when your ready to fill up, use the hozelock tap adaptor on your kitchen mixer tap, get the temp about right for the fish and fill back up, using the hose clip to keep the hose in the tank, all while you sit on the sofa and wait for it to finish. So easy that it's ridiculous! This will cost you a few quid to setup initially, but you wont recommend it, and all of a sudden, water change day wont be a chore anymore.I really couldn't recommend this enough. I've had no problems like mentioned in the previous reviews, and to be honest, if it broke, I would replace it instantly. That's how good it is. Stop reading reviews and buy it. You will not regret it!

The media could not be loaded. Item is nice and long as I required and does feel well made.The packaging was just a self seal bag with a bit of bubble wrap around the tube. Something heavy has been put on the tube and it has become squashed. Not sure if I should try it and see if it's been holed it's hard to judge. But obviously this is delivery damage and not a manufacturing problem.The fish tank vac itself looks well made.
