Its a comfortable guitar to play with an intricate sound, craftmanship leave a lot to be desired.
Overall, I'm pleased with the sound of this guitar. I was looking for something with a brighter tone and something a bit more agile. I seem to play faster on this guitar. However, with those brighter notes, it certainly lets you know when you've messed up. This has helped my technique a lot over my old guitar which was a lot more deep and muddy sounding. There are over a dozen paint defects on the guitar I received. I've owned comparably priced Epiphones with zero damage out of the box. I will probably steer clear of Washburn in the future. Defects include significantly sized bubbles in the clear coat, micro scratches all over the body of the guitar, and blemishes on either side of all of the frets. Looks great from 8 feet away though.Strings that came with the guitar, play exceptionally well. Anyone complaining about them hurting is probably used to electric guitar strings which are usually a much smaller gauge. As far as acoustic strings go, these are the comfiest strings I've played on in a long time. They are very cheap though and leave black dust all over my finger tips. The built in tuner works as it should, even allows you to tune in drop b. Briefly hooked it up to an old amp I had laying around, sounded pretty good for an acoustic.

A very nice guitar at an affordable price
I was looking for a guitar to take with me to open mics and I chose this one. It sounds and plays great - better than some more expensive brands/models. It did have some cosmetic problems early in the build process that were just lacquered over, so I took away one star. But that doesn't effect it's playing.

for beginners, I THINK NOT, there is work to be done to make it playable.... :(
They give you a strap and other than the nub on the bottom, there is no nub on the top, and they don't include even a string to attach it to the guitar. Thankfully I had some neck straps and strings, but come on Washburn, what's the point of giving a person a strap if they cannot use it?????The strings, OH the strings, gritty, grinding when trying to do any kind of slide, and leaves skid marks on your fingers. D'Addario strings my big white hairy butt, and if they are those strings, it does not make me want to buy them EVER! The included Dr Strings "should" be ok however, but I don't use them.Quality. I have owned:Fender (2 of them)JoymusicPyleWashburnAklotDonnerKadenceADMand many other ones, the Aklot being my favorite of them all but not till after I changed its strings, and the stings of EVERY guitar I buy due to what this one does as well. The thing has marks still on the wood where they were to cut, its been glued by a 4 year old that looks like elmers glue, and reminded of it every time I play it and look in the sound hole and see GLUE everywhere (see pics), not even the pyles (I've had about 6 of them) had glue splattered all over, and it doesn't make it feel as if it is a QUALITY piece of art work. Had I paid full price of $300, it would of gotten returned in a heartbeat, for I can buy lesser costing, no name brands that are built WAY better, IMHO.Nubone, is short for a new way to bone you. See my pics, for I hadn't even started playing on it but a few strums after tunning it in, and its already starting to indent (see pics), I feel it wont take long to fully drop into itself and will need to be changed, but they cut the opening in a way that not any off the shelf bone saddle will fit in the hole perfect, I tried, there is about a 2-3mm gap. While on the subject of that, lets include if this is good for a beginner, and my answer to that is HELL NO! The strings are bad, so if new to it, they ride so high (I think mine at the 12th was at 3.5mm when it should be 2-2.5) that not only do you right away need to know how to change the strings, but SHAVE the saddle down to fix the action height, of which NO new beginner is going to know how to do it, so they are left with a strap that hangs off one peg at the bottom for there is no way to attach the other unless you have a shoe lace hanging around. Quality control which is no where to be found, and so bad, your left looking at glue as you play it making you feel if they skipped out on doing that right what else have they skipped on? A ride height too high, with stiff as hell strings that ride way to high and are gritty when you slide and leave skid marks on the fingers, and yet a new comer to the game is going to know how to make it playable?BUT after fixing the action by shaving the saddle, oiling the bar, changing the strings, and at some point going to find a way to remove the excess glue so I'm not reminded how crappy its been put together every time I play it, it sounds wonderful. It comes with a limited lifetime warranty, of which I fear I will need to use at some point, for the card it come with says, and I quote "Hand crafting and meticulous workmanship have been the hallmark of Washburn instruments since the first guitars were built in Chicago over 125 years ago", but after it all said and done, IF you can do all I done, and shouldn't of had to do for its a WASHBURN, not a donner, or AMD, or pyle where you would expect to have to work on it, NOT THIS you can make it sound wonderful and a sorta joy to play!!Washburn, I hope you are reading this, for I had to do to your guitar what I have had to do to almost all the rest to make them playable, so please tell me why your craftmanship has SUNK? Look at my pictures and tell me how meticulous my guitar was put together????? Strings suck, action height too high, no way to attach the strap given (why??), and the "Nubone" crap is starting to dent before it was even tuned.IM so on the fence on wanting to return it Amazon and Washburn, I just don't feel like waiting 2 weeks to get my money back, but its sooo sooo soooooooo close every time I play and see glue looking at me as I do, when aside of the best choice guitar, NONE of the others had glue splatter like this one does, and its a FREAKIN WASHBURN?!?!?!?!?! WHY!?OH, and in last, there was such a hella bend in the neck that after fixing the height, and changing the strings that had to be adjusted as well. Luckily after making it lay flat with no bend or bow it no longer has SERIOUS fret buzz. I also removed those cheap as fudge plastic pins to brass, not sure if it really made it sound better for I never got a chance to play it long enough to hear due to shoddy quality parts. Also rosewood, nor my bone pins would fit due to the holes being VERY small :(

Beautiful guitar
This is my first acoustic guitar, I have multiple electrics. The finish on this guitar is beautiful, I couldn't find any imperfections in the binding or the body itself. It came with the Dadarrio strings which is a nice touch. I gave four stars because the tuner is kind of a pain to use. I haven't try the built-in effects yet. My biggest complaint is that there is a strap button on the bottom of the guitar but there's not one towards the top of the body. So in order to use a strap I'm going to have to install one and hope it doesn't mess up the finish

Washburn Festival EA 15 Acoustic Electric Guitar
I gave this a one star review because it was a real disappointment. The only reason it got a one is because you can’t give a zero & it is an aesthetically pleasing guitar. The tobacco burst was pretty. The Frets; however, were extremely sharp, the guitar had terrible fret buzz, & it was simply unplayable. The fret buzz was even worse when using a capo, especially on the 2nd fret. I understand the price point of this guitar but I also have a Donner acoustic electric at the same price point & it is much better quality. I asked someone at a music store if it could be fixed & he said the truss rod would have to be adjusted & the total setup for that, fixing the feet ends, & adding a top strap button would be around $100.00. If I had wanted to spend another $100.00, I would have purchased a different guitar. This guitar came with a strap but only a lower strap button. It didn’t even come with a string to use for the top end since they didn’t bother to include a top strap button. What gives? How can you use a strap with only one button & no string to secure the top end. With a name like Washburn, I expected a lot more from this company, even on an entry level guitar. Come on Washburn, you can do much better than this! Quality control was non existent. 😔

Washburn ea15
Surprised by the quality, and sound it provides for what they call a low budget guitar. Took a chance on a used but in good condition offering from Amazon. Best 180.00 I spent on a guitar.
