Q: Is this heat safe? Like taking this directly off the grill .

You can use it to take meat or other food off the grill and put on the board safely but do not put the board near or in the grill as it will melt. Made of plastic.

Q: While in cutting board position, is there a chance to cut the rubber (the folded sides)? I feel like it would just get all cut up.

Sure. There’s a chance. I used it more for meat prep/marination etc. I prefer my actual cutting boards to this. It’s kinda nifty but mine had a blow out in one of the corners after a few cycles of collapsing/expanding. Tried to silicone sealant/adhesive but meh.
