Sangean PR-D18BK AM/FM/Clock Portable Digital Radio with Protective Bumper (Black/Gray) (Renewed)

This radio is the real deal. Unlike other small inexpensive radios that have quirky tuning systems and near-impossible-to-manage button assignments, this one is simple. Scan in a station you want to save, then press and hold the button you wish to assign it to. There will be a little "beep" and it is done. The radio is also remarkably sensitive to distant AM stations and performs well at almost any angle to the direction of the station, even with stations 60 miles away. FM is also good, though I don't think I would want to listen to music on this radio as a regular habit. The only other drawback I would cite is that you have to use 4 AA batteries rather than a rechargeable lithium battery, as some other radios offer. Unlike another Sangean radio I have, this one does not have a switch that allows the use of lower-voltage rechargeable NiMH AA cells.

I took a chance on this "renewed" Sangean radio which had good reviews. It arrived in like-new condition and works perfectly. I like the fact it is portable so I can use it outdoors while I garden or enjoy it while sitting on the patio. You can plug it in but it does not come with a cord. It is digital so you can program the exact radio station and it locks it in. It does not offer stereo unless you use some headphones as it only has one speaker. I like also the rubber protection that surrounds the frame of the radio. It has a long antenna which seems to draw stations in very well. So far, I am very happy with this "renewed" Sangean and recommend it highly.

Reception is a little shaky.I thought it would be better.Everything else is great.Sound very good.May,or may not buy again

Sangean radios tend to cost more than other types, it’s an long established brand including the latest in technology. US companies aren’t in the portable business anymore, even Japanese brands are having their radios produced in China. Sangean has its headquarters and factories in Taiwan. I have their Skywave model for listening to Aircraft, Police, even Railroad communication, the table radio selling for $169, as well as a very small radio I use with headphones when I’m attending sporting events. You will have a tough time finding Sony or Panasonic radios with digital tuning, which is an absolute must.To be able to buy an excellent Sangean portable for this price is great deal, you’ll be very happy with your purchase.

The Sangean PR-D18BK AM-FM portable radio is better than I expected. It features sensitive reception on both bands and good sound from its speaker. Another example of Sangean quality. It feels solid and works well on both alkaline and rechargeable batteries. It's also easy to carry in your hand without a handle even though it is just a little larger than a paperback book.

Good reception and decent sound for a small radio. For the cost you would think they would include an AC power supply. Easy to use and set up.

This radio does a wonderful job pulling in stations that I could not listen to with other radio systems, and provides extremely clear and decent sound. It is well worth the money.

This radio eats batteries quickly. I recommend an AC adapter and/or rechargeable batteries.Otherwise it's a pretty good radio though I would search for something more efficient.
