Solid plastic
These are sid plastic. The threads are fine and fit my boat. I wish the slot for the screwdriver was thinner - you need a monster screw driver to fit the slot otherwise you run the risk of slipping out of the slot and stripping it.

Moeller Boat Transom Pipe (Drain) Plug (5-Pack)
The Moeller drain plug works perfectly for our older (25 year) fiberglass boat. Most local marine shops don't carry this 3/4" (dia) plastic plug and it seems to be just one of a few drain plugs now available to fit this transom hull drain. At first I thought a 5-pack of plugs was an overkill but after using the boat in a state that requires the plug to be removed each time the boat is removed from the water, I think the 5-pack is very worthwhile. Finally, the plug requires a heavy flathead screwdriver for install/removal so pick up an inexpensive tool to leave in your boat and you will be set for your drain issues for many years to come.

I had destroyed my old plug for my older aluminum ...
I had destroyed my old plug for my older aluminum boat. I had no luck finding these locally.I have modified 1 one of the 5 by epoxying 2 of 1/2 inch washers into the slot. It makes it so I don't have to find a large screwdriver every time I take the plug out.
