Disappointed
******SPOILER ALERT******I hate to leave spoilers but there’s no way around it. Omgosh, I can’t believe so many people raved over this. It started out 5 Stars but didn’t take long to go down. It gave me more stress than I already had in real life because the whole book was how no one would give any answers to the same conversation over and over. It was like Groundhog Day movie over and over. And to try and change the subject, the characters would say, ‘want some ice tea?’ I really had a hard time with how the sheriff treated the whole case and was so condemning towards Claire. And he didn’t investigate like he should’ve. This has got to be one of the most poorly written books, I can’t believe people like it. No cop does their job so poorly. And in the end, we didn’t hear or see the sheriff any more. The characters were so poorly developed and the writing choppy. Nothing they did or said makes sense. And I don’t think there are orcas on the east coast. If you’re listening to the audio version, the narrator tells it in a sing song voice sounding like she’s reading to a child. During some parts she’s really good but most times it’s saccharine sweet. Giving the listener the feeing of being ignorant.

Did people really like this book??
The actions and reactions of the characters in this book made no sense at all. Any thinking reader would realize that situations and details were twisted to fit the desired ending. The author achieved the length of the story by having everyone put off conversations over and over. The heroine of the story took multiple walks in the woods and on the beach alone despite several attempts on her life, and she and her loved ones seemed only mildly interested in the fact that someone was trying to kill her. Over and over again. I skipped through this book to get through the end. What may have been an interesting idea for a plot was ruined by the poorly thought out , absolutely ridiculous storyline.

Not my cup of tea
I purchased this book based on the description and the many 5 star reviews. It just wasn't my cup of tea. I didn't find the story to be believable and the actions of the main character (who is supposed to be an intelligent, professional woman) were just plain silly at times.

Another wonderful book
I loved this book and this author. Colleen Coble always has a little romance, mystery, and usually a murder case to solve. This book also has a lot of family ties going in all different directions and yet the author makes it all come together. Claire is a woman from a wealthy family who comes to help her family's company merge with another company on an island. From the start of the story you realize she is being thrown into a scary situation not of her own making. Someone is trying to kill her. She also has problems in her past when she was four years of age that are coming back to her memory, Can she and her new friends piece together the past along with the present before more people are hurt? How will all this present new information affect her family relationships. It has a great ending, tying things together. I highly recommend this book and this author.

I loved how the different storylines weaved in and out effortlessly
Check out the full review at Kritters RamblingsThe first in a series that takes place in Maine. Claire thinks she is visiting a hotel for the first time and in the first chapter she finds out that she was a news story in this small town in Maine and the story goes from there! At the same time Luke lost his mom years ago and she was never found and maybe with Claire coming to town and new clues coming to life he may find her.I loved how the different storylines weaved in and out effortlessly. I thought that the author made it so that we flowed from one story to another and they impacted each other so well.

This is a unique and very different story.
This has got to be one of the best books I have ever read. It started out with a scene that real!y gets you guessing. Then there is intrigue after intrigue after intrigue. The author weaves a web that is multi-layered and intricate. Every twist and turn reveals something incredible that you weren't expecting. When you start the book cancel your plans for the next couple days because it is hard to put down. I don't want to give any details of the story, because you need to get all of them from the author, just the way she wrote it.

Excellent storyline,recommend
I have been reading books by Colleen Coble for quite a while. She’s an excellent author and storyteller. I really enjoyed this particular novel as it kept my attention throughout and was a real page turner. I think Mrs. Cobble excels at this long novel format, as opposed to shorter novellas. She’s a very descriptive author, and the shorter format does not lend itself to her typical level of detail. This novel depicts characters that are genuine, believable, and recognizable.

Great twists and turns
Sometimes our favorite authors write a book that just doesn't sit well with us. This is how this book started for me. About 25% in I almost quit. The characters seemed shallow and nothing disturbed them, even dead bodies. I'm glad I continued reading. The characters received some depth and I started getting interested in them. The mystery and suspense were great. The author thought up a great story. My mind was going in so many different directions trying to figure everything out. I ended up really liking this book. When the killer is after a woman in mysteries, why does she always have to do something stupid so she can be captured?

Intriguing book
New Author for me. This book had drama and intrigue throughout. The story was unique and had me hooked from the start. I’m hoping we get more from these characters to see their development in future stories

just like her I wanted to know why the inn caused ...
I was drawn to Claire right after she experiences the panic attack, just like her I wanted to know why the inn caused her to react this way. The plot takes quite a few different twists and turns, but I had figured out most of the mystery way before it was revealed. I did enjoy getting to know the three main characters, Claire, Luke & Kate. They each come from different backgrounds and were unique in their own way, no character felt like the other. Claire experiences so much during the search for answers, but some of her reactions don’t seem realistic. I was very proud of Kate the moment she stood up for herself, she did not deserve to be treated the way she was. There were quite a few characters I did not like, but I think Ms. Coble wanted me to feel this way about them as each one was hiding something horrible they had done or were doing. The two themes I got from this novel were truth and family. Telling the truth, even if it hurts, is much better than living a lie. What happens when that lie is exposed? What makes a family, is it blood, love or something else? There were no loose ends left at the end of the book, but it also doesn’t end with the traditional happily ever after ending. I am looking forward to starting book 2, maybe I can spend more time with the characters I liked?

Wow!
There were definitely a lot of twists and turns with this book . . . some I kinda figured out but others that came out of absolutely nowhere. It was definitely a wild ride, this!I liked that Claire and Luke (and Kate) were able to find out that the debate between nature and nurture was not nearly as important as taking responsibility for their own actions, learning from their mistakes, and allowing God to lead them.
