2 year review: Very durable. Swivel feature is super helpful for making sure the cord doesn't kink as you're pulling. Straightforward mounting into my brick wall with a drill. Very easy to put away. Super smooth retracting. High quality hose. Gone are the days of tangled kinked chaotic hoses that require 2 people to put it away nicely.All in all I can't see myself ever going back to the classic crank to retract system. Night and day so much easier.In terms of leakage, no problems until this year when the nozzle (which is awesome) must have got hit by the cold in the garage. But I reached out to customer support and Grace sent me a new one immediately.Buy this thing.

Wish I had bought this sooner. After years of having to hand roll over 100 feet of hose anytime I needed to use it, having to deal with kinks and cracked areas that affected water flow, this is a lifesaver. Installed very easy and was leak free as well as the swivel feature keeps it out of the way when not in use. Best feature is its powerful recoil that prevents tangling. It's powerful recoil is the best part. The directions specifically say to turn off water and drain hose before recoiling and I forgot to do this, yet it recoiled with no issue. Great product

I bought one of these last year and I just finally started using my second one that I put in the front yard. I have a half an acre and I don’t have an irrigation system so when I first plant I have to water for two weeks every single day and this hose has made my life so much easier. My only reason for not giving it five stars is that it kinks easily. And I wish there was a future that would allow you to pull the hose out more easily when you’re trying to pull it out entirely and then when you’re done, you can put it back into retraction mode. Great hose though!

Updated:Our hose reel was replaced and all is well! I was very impressed about the diligence that took place to make sure we knew the reel would be replaced!Not even a full year and something broke inside and now the hose just spews water all over. Hose isn’t cracked. Will try calling customer support during business hours and fingers crossed they will be able to help us, as this item wasn’t cheap and I would like to continue to have it!

Felt compelled to leave this review, it’s incredible, the idea and everything, and the materials are incredible, except for the hinge. I can see this thing melting away or warping within the first couple of months if the sun‘s on it, otherwise an incredible machine, I’ve already figured out a way to put a metallic dowel through it, basically a through bolt, it still doesn’t address the fact that the whole mounting part is plastic, but I get it, I wasn’t expecting anything else, I’m just letting everybody know, this thing is quality and it works really well, besides the hinge might need a dressing in your case

The Giraffe retractable hose reel quality is so well made. I bought one a few months ago and waited to write the review. It has worked flawlessly. I loved it so much I bought a second one for the other side of my house. I had a small issue and contacted support and they immediately rectified the situation. I highly recommend the Giraffe products.

So far the reel and hose are working well. I don’t often use it or stretch it out to its max. 3/5 stars for the following reasons (mostly install):Included anchors: worthless if you are drilling into anything other than soft vinyl siding. I have brick, the anchors are worthless for going in the pre-drilled holes because they bend and mishape too much. Required a trip to Lowe’s and about $15 for 4 metal anchors and bolts.Drill requirement: included anchors require a bizarre drill size (7/16”). Good luck finding that. I’m guessing a Chinese product trying to convert from metric.Reel: pretty tough to use when the water is turned on. The directions say to have the water turned off and pressure released. 1 1/2 yrs in and it stops retracting. It was wonderful while it worked, a very handle tool in the garden, but started having retraction issues after the first summer of use. We babied it, being careful to retract it smoothly and then one day it completely gave out after two summer seasons of garden use. For the price it was probably worth the two seasons I got from it, but seems like such a waste to throw the entire thing away when it’s probably one small broken part inside the unit.UPDATE: contacted product support. Best costumer service I’ve ever had. They had me send a short video of the problem and without further questions, sent me a brand new unit within just a week! I would give five stars for costumer service if I could.
