Don't buy a quality rigging shackle for your mall truck/jeep
This isn't a showpiece, its a high quality USA made rigging shackle, therefore yes it will come with scratches and a poor paint coat on the pin, but its galvanized for function so get over it, otherwise buy the cheap Chinese ones that look pretty but rust inside of a 6 months and have a higher risk for failure.

Solid Shackle
Very sturdy, haven't had to use them yet s I bought them as part of my tow kit for my hunting truck in case I get stuck or break down on the trails. The screw works fine and they are made in the USA.

Made in USA, rust protected
One of the very few US companies out there. "Made in USA" stamped on the parts. Not painted any bright color which is super helpful once you drop one in mud/snow/pile of whatever you're stuck in, but the shackle will resist rust. The bolt might rust, because someone decided to paint that bright red and not galvanize it, which makes little sense to me.If you have a show truck or just like your stuff to look really nice, support your local powder coat company and get them coated.Update, August 2020: I recently had the opportunity to use these under less than ideal conditions, and they worked perfectly well without failure of any sort. I found that putting a light coat of WD-40 or equivalent on all exposed threads was quite helpful when inserting the bolt through a wet and dirty shackle with only the very tips of your fingers, while laying on your back in the mud and your arm stretched as far as you can under a hot and angry stuck vehicle. Because when else would you find the need to use such things? The process ate a tow strap that “exceeded load rating”, then strained aircraft rated tow chains. Many things broke, bent, frayed, failed- not the shackles. Worth every penny against the $80k+ in vehicles involved, because if the shackle fails, the “puller” and the “pulled” both suffer. Everyone made it home. The bolt unscrewed just as easy, indicating nothing bent. Buying shackles of unknown quality is the equivalent of buying an unlabeled fire extinguisher. You don’t need it often, but when you do- it must work as advertised. Without question, this item does the job when used properly, one must seat the bolt snug when connecting it. Be sure the rest of your equipment is up to task and properly rated.

Heavy Duty USA Made Galvanized Shackle
Shopped around for a good USA made shackle but only found china-made junk. What you see in the Amazon photo is what you get. Heavy galvanized D Ring shackle with the galvanized screw pin painted red. Red paint is chipped up as shown. USA embossed on one side. This fits the "Factor 55 ProLink Shackle Mount" I bought for my winch. The China-made shackles didn't. Yes expensive but is worth it to me to pay more for better quality American made products. Would buy again, and have... I now have 4 of these in my recovery gear bag I keep in the Jeep.

They were fine, but can't tell if they were used or beat up
As you can see from my photos, the box was beat up and the shackles clearly show "wear." I can't tell if they were "used" or not, however. They could just be beat up from being stored where ever they are stored before shipping. In inspecting them closely, I don't think they are "used" and resold for new.Overall, I have no issues with them. They are shackles and that they don't have perfect paint jobs really isn't a big deal to me.

Buy American, buy these shackles
These arrived in excellent shape, not used at all. Sure, the paint is not concours-grade, but it's professional rigging hardware - how important are looks, anyway? I purchased these for the same reason I went ARB for my kinetic strap; for safety-of-life items, I'd prefer to not penny pinch with Chinese hardware. Check the price of an ER co-pay lately? Hint - it's more than the savings you'd realize by going with cheap recovery gear.

Solid shackle
Purchased two shackles to keep in the truck in case I ever needed them for an emergency. I am a construction worker, a pipe fitter, and we use Crosby shackles on the job because they are a highly respected company known for making solid rigging shackles. Have not used them, but they are in the truck just in case.
