They have short descriptions and a ton of examples of what they are trying to learn in each section. I bought several books to compare and this one hands down as the best. For a beginner poetry class look no further. This has saved me so much time.

This book was not at my local library so I ordered a copy. I love the format of this book. Each chapter opens with a definition of a literary device and is followed by brief poems that show how the device is used. I am using this book with my first grader. So far this is my favorite poetry resource.
